Death-Afterlife-excerpt
Introduction - excerpt
Death is one of the things in life that remains certain. Since the dawn of history, the subject of death and the afterlife has been the great mystery of human existence. This is a subject of universal interest that everyone wonders about.
There is great confusion concerning death and the afterlife. There are many sources that speak on the subject; some are trustworthy and some are not. Scientists, philosophers, religions, and even within the Christian faith, there is much confusion and disagreement regarding what happens at death and what happens in the afterlife.
The Good News is that death doesn’t have to be a mystery nor be entirely devastating. God has not left us without hope. He has given us more than enough in His Word to comfort us concerning death and the afterlife.
I pray this book ~ Death and The Afterlife (The Bible Speaks) ~ helps in untwisting some of the twisted teachings concerning life’s greatest mystery.

Jesus' Victory Over Death - excerpt
Adam’s sin brought with it a heavy penalty. Since everybody is born into sin, everybody is subject to sin’s penalty. The Apostle Paul says,
“For the wages of sin is death … .” Romans 6:23
It is the sinner who dies. Therefore, death has always been humanity’s enemy. The Scripture points out mankind’s inborn fear of death. The Hebrew writer tells us how Jesus came to.
“… deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Hebrews 2:15
Death is not a pleasant subject. Growing up, I had a terrible fear of death and the afterlife. If you wanted me out of your presence, start talking about death and I would leave immediately. I knew on the inside that I was not ready to meet God and I didn’t want to be faced with anything about my encounter with the Lord in the afterlife.
Therefore, I buried my head in the sand about the subject of death, even though it was happening all around me.
Soul-Sleep ~ Truth or Error? - excerpt
We must remember that the Word of God does not contradict itself (other portions of Scripture). If there appear to be contradictions, it is because of our lack of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of what God is saying.
For those difficult passages, we must compare spiritual things with spiritual things (other portions of Scripture) to get the true interpretation of the subject at hand. The Apostle Paul states,
“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;
comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” I Corinthians 2:13
It is extremely important to proceed with caution when isolating individual Scriptures to prove a point. To rightly divide God’s Word, we must also look at the context in which the verse is stated.
The Heavenly Courtroom – excerpt
Unless the Lord tarries, one day we (all) will die. But death is not the end. God says,
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27
“But the LORD shall endure for ever: He hath prepared His throne for judgment. And He shall judge the world in righteousness, He shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.” Psalm 9:7,8
One day, there will be no choice, all will be hauled forcibly into the Heavenly Courtroom. There will be no contempt for not showing up, because everybody will show up. However, everybody will not be in the same courtroom. There will be two different judgments, one for believers and one for unbelievers.
“For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” Romans 14:11,12
The New Jerusalem - excerpt
For the believer, the best is yet to come. I’m sure we’ll be amazed at what awaits us on the other side. God hasn’t revealed even a fraction of what He has in mind for us.
“That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:7
As we look forward to going to our new home (Heaven) in Scripture, we see spiritual concepts and promises in a vague outline as if we are looking through steamed glass. Someday, we will see clearly. Apostle Paul said,
“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” I Corinthians 13:12
God assures us that His promise of eternal life is more than worth the effort, struggles, and disappointments of life and death. Paul said,
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” 2 Corinthians 4:17
